If you don't like using a hacksaw, this is the tool for you. I built a sound cabinet for my musical group's sound system, and had to regulate the side dimensions with a considerable number of threaded steel rods, all trimmed to precise length. The thought of dealing with several dozen cuts through threaded rods (leaving the rod end capable of accepting nuts after it was done) did not please me.
